loving: tory burch

Tory Burch has been really knocking it out of the park for me fashion-wise.  I came across this pic on my Facebook feed the other day and it inspired me to buy this blouse from Banana Republic (I had a 35% off code- it was fate!).

I also logged on Vogue.com last night (multi-tasking while watching the State of the Union) and was greeted by this lovely pic from her London store opening.

TB is so chic! I love her style and I am endlessly inspired by her blog and Facebook presence. (Kudos to the TB web team!  I'm inspired to be a better blogger because of their hard work.)  Also, I'm especially obsessed with her new city guides.  Wonder when she'll come out with a DC guide?  Maybe I can help her write one.  Tory, if you're reading this,  have your people call my people.

katie lee (joel)'s nyc pad is on the market

Sigh.  The former Mrs. Billy Joel has put her ah-mazing Nate Berkus-decorated West Village townhouse on the market and I'm $12.9 million too poor to buy it!

Seriously though, Katie Lee is exactly how I imagine myself if I had the guts to be an *ahem* gold digger wife of a much older and wealthy man.  There, I said it!  She has incredible taste in home decor and clothing, and that I really admire.  However, as a certain New York Times Magazine article pointed out, her talents in the kitchen and as a "lifestyle expert" seem to underwhelm her critics.  But kudos to her for continuing to try to break through that spun sugar ceiling.....

In the meantime, she's laughing all the way to the bank if she sells this place for a cool thirteen mill.    I do wonder if she'll miss this lovely home though- I certainly would!  I fell in love with this place when it was featured in the June/July 2008 issue of Domino magazine.  And I've tagged it as one of the inspiration homes for my own little apartment.

For now, I hope you'll all enjoy these photos as much as I do!

winter white

I've been totally drooling over Filipa Fino's Five Days, Five Looks, One Girl feature on Vogue.com.
I think this winter white outfit is total perfection (especially her Gucci coat!).  I wish I looked this chic every day in the office!

The feathery Louboutin booties are pretty fab too.

a quick diy idea

Ok, it's no secret that I'm obsessed with the amazing store Pieces in Atlanta, so it should come as no surprise that I am seriously LOVING these oak side tables.

The price tag is out of my range, so my little DIY brain started working and I came up with a simple way to make one of these babies for a much cheaper price tag.

Tah-dah!

The West Elm Natural Tree-Stump Side Table.  For around $200, you can purchase this baby, paint the base a glossy white and have your very own chic side table!  It likely won't look as beautiful as the ones from Pieces (seeing their furniture in person, it is completely worth the prices they charge), but for the girl on a tight budget, I think my DIY version gives you bang for your buck.
