off to nyc

I'm off to spend Memorial Day weekend in NYC with friends.  At the top of my to-do list is spending an afternoon at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's new exhibit, American Women: Fashioning a National Identity.  I promise to post pictures from the exhibit!

Have a fabulous weekend everyone!

gooping it up in the hamptons

With Memorial Day just around the corner, I wish I had a house in the Hamptons like Gwyneth Paltrow's home.  It was featured in the November 2007 issue of the now defunct House and Garden magazine.

My favorite room in her home is the kitchen.  I LOVE the charcoal grey cabinets and island.  The vaulted ceiling and skylight likely make the room feel huge (definitely what you want in a room you spend a lot of time in).

Little Apple's room is super-femme with hot pink accents and a canopy bed.

In fact, the entire house seems to be filled with little feminine touches here and there.

If the interiors aren't enough to get your GOOP going, take a peek at the grounds (and her personal gym!).

Yep, it's good to be Gwyneth....

dreaming of a vacation home

It's been cold and rainy in DC for the past two days and it doesn't show signs of letting up until later this week, so what better to daydream about than my very own vacation home in a warm weather spot?!  This month's Elle Decor features Meg Ryan's Martha's Vineyard vacation home.  I love that she has used so much white throughout her home.  If I'm ever lucky enough to have a vacation home, it would definitely have a fresh feeling like Meg's.  Be sure to check out her decorating tips on ED's website.

I'm a sucker for a great view and this home's definitely got one!

I'm really looking forward to this weekend when my issue of ED comes in the mail. The summer issues are always my favorite because they feature so many beautiful summer vacation homes.   Doesn't the cover make you want to dine outdoors tonight?

trend watch: silk shorts

(lauren santo domingo)

I've been avoiding the "evening shorts" trend for at least two years, but I may have to reconsider my ban after seeing the silk shorts on Vogue's blog.

one kings lane

I am in love with the front door vignettes One Kings Lane puts together each season.  Each photo makes me smile every time I sign in to my account.  If you aren't familiar with OKL, they offer daily sales of high end home goods and furniture (think Gilt Groupe or Rue La La for your home).  You can sign up for your very own account right here.

In the meantime, enjoy the other photos of their dogs and stay tuned for more!

sex and the city 2 interiors

I just bought my ticket to see SATC2 and as I was doing a bit of web surfing last night, I found a few screen shots of the SATC2 sets to share.  The previews make the movie look visually stunning and I think I'm now more excited about the interiors and fashion than the plot line!  Feast your eyes....

tastemaker: rita konig

The ever-stylish Rita Konig's home is featured in New York Magazine's 2010 home design issue.  You may be familiar with Konig.  She's a New York Times blogger, interior designer, author, former domino contributor and daughter of London interior designer Nina Campbell.  Whew.  That's a lot of titles and I know I'm leaving out a few....  What I really enjoyed about her latest apartment spread is that I can compare how she's repurposed the same pieces that lived in her old apartment featured in a 2008 issue of domino.  Check it all out below.

These photos of her tiny NYC apartment were first published in the October 2008 issue of domino.  I love the gold pig on the mantel!

How cute is this car?  I wonder if its hers or if it was just a prop for the photo shoot....
I would love to get my hands on the wallpaper used in her entryway.  I think I remember this photo from the Domino Book of Decorating, so I'll have to leaf through my copy tonight to see if I can find the source.

Rita is also the talent behind this bathroom featured in domino.  I immediately tore this page out of my copy for my inspiration binder. I think it's a nice model for a bachelor pad bathroom.
