searching for warmth

I have to admit that it's been a little difficult for me to get back into the swing of things in DC.  One of the toughest adjustments I've had to make in the last week and a half is embracing the cool, fall weather. If you were just coming off two and a half weeks in 80 degree plus weather, you would feel me.  These autumnal pics are helping me adjust.  If I can't have warm weather, I might as well have warm decor!

kate and andy spade's nyc digs courtesy of the selby

I can't think of a better way to kick off my return than Kate and Andy Spade's NYC apartment that was recently photographed by Todd Selby.  While their home has appeared in a few magazine spreads over the years, the Selby photos give us a slightly more in-depth peek at their home.

I hope you're as inspired by their home and art collection as I am.  (Also check out the adorable photo of Andy with their daughter, Bea!)

Their entry hall is the inspiration for the makeover I'm doing on my own!

I'm back!

Zapatillas | Bocas del Toro, Panama
Six weeks after my last post, I'm officially back to blogging!  The past weeks have been a bit of a whirlwind of activities.  I spent a week out in California campaigning for one of my company's clients, then went on an AH-mazing vacation to Panama with some friends from college (the photo above is one of my favorites from the trip!).  Now, I'm back in DC, getting settled back in to work and plotting the next projects around my house.  First up is (finally) painting the interior of my condo!  Stay tuned friends.

P.S.  Thanks to the many people who have put a bug in my ear about updating the blog.  Glad to know I have such faithful readers!

affordable art week: little brown pen

I've been looking for artwork to hang on the wall space between my couch and dining table.  I was hoping to find something light, white and airy to go along with the inspiration room I'm modeling my main living area off of.  About a month ago, I found an amazing blog called little brown pen.  It turns out  the blog is completely devoted to gorgeous photos of Paris, and has a wonderful (and inexpensive) Etsy shop to boot!  I'm thinking it might be neat to hang a series of 18 prints (the black and white series) on the wall.  For less than $100, I can fill my entire wall with beautiful photos of Paris.  As Ina would say, "How easy is that?"

hump day treat

My friend Sarah says, "Macaroons are the new cupcake.  They're all over NYC!"  I think she may be right.  Yesterday, as I was taking a quick work break and stumbled on this recipe for vanilla macaroons from Daniel Boulud on Elle Decor's website.  I think i may have to add "macaroon making" to my growing list of post-Election Day activities.  For now, I hope you'll test the recipe and let me know how they turn out.  So what are you waiting for?  Go fix yourself a little hump day treat!

Not in the mood to bake?  Then sit back and be inspired by these photos from the gorgeous Parisian locations of the famed Laduree tea room and shops.
